We’ve tried them skinny; we’ve tried them wide; we’ve played with length and then picked from a Pantone card of colours. This season, things get bolder below the belt as doodles and in-your-face artwork took over our favourite pants. Now, Vogue's panel of experts offers easy tricks for adopting this trend into every shape.
The expert: Anupamaa Dayal
• “If you are PETITE, the sharara trousers worn with heels with instantly restructure your body into a column shape. If you have a flat stomach, wear the pants with a sequinned bra or tight choli, layered with something sheer.”
• “If you’re CURVY,
Asian trousers inspired from Burma, Vietnam and India are a good pick. I
always cut my trousers on a bias so you’ll lose two inches on your
hips. If you’re conscious of this area, opt for a classic tunic on top —
the length should be mid-thigh or shorter, definitely not longer. You
can go tone-on-tone. ”

• “TALL, LEGGY
girls can go for bold, colourful prints cut in a slim cigarette style
or wide-leg. High- and low-waist pants will both work here.”
• “I advise TOMBOY, ATHLETIC
girls to wear more relaxed shapes to give off a carefree, easy
attitude. Prints should be of a smaller scale. A pair of printed cargo
pants would be cool.”
The expert: Dev R Nil
• “Broad frames should avoid bigger prints and high-colour contrasts. Instead, try smaller dots, stripes or checks.”
